Looking For a Young Ambassador
Are you a young person aged 15 to 19 actively involved in a community project within the Watford district? Would you like to win a £1500 bursary to use in your community project? If so Watford Lions are looking for you.
The Lions Young Ambassador scheme acknowledges the work of young people working as volunteers and gives them the recognition they deserve… boosting their self esteem, their confidence in themselves and highlighting the charities and volunteer groups with which they are involved.
The Lions Young Ambassador was first organised in 1974 as the Lions Youth Award, and has grown in stature over the years. It has long been acknowledged as one of the foremost recognition schemes for young people and has enjoyed substantial sponsorship from some of the world’s major corporations; Forte plc, Lloyds TSB plc and Reuters plc have been long term sponsors of the Lions Young Ambassador scheme.
Young Ambassador candidates are judged on:
- Their community service activity.
- Personality and demonstration of leadership qualities.
- Their proposed use of the bursary.
- The ability to speak about their service activities.
- Commitment to take part in the Multiple District Finals weekend, which is a mixture of work and fun, including an informal “ice-breaking” evening, an activity like bowling and a Gala Dinner with entertainment by them followed by a disco.
And the winner needs to be committed to:
- Addressing MD Convention.
- Attending a Youth Camp.
- Representing their Multiple District at Europa Forum in the European Final.
We at Watford Lions are searching for our very own Young Ambassador to sponsor through the scheme. If you think you could be our ambassador or if you know of anyone who fits the bill please e-mail: cheryl@watfordlions.co.uk with your details or download our application form.
